“Nextdoor by Oliver Ebben (Studio Quint) and Jos Roodbol is a 275-m2 interior currently occupied by CASE (Center for Amsterdam Schools for Entrepreneurship). The low-budget project includes ten permanent and 40 flexible workstations. These units are made out of inexpensive, standard-model doors. Ceiling panels were removed to reveal the overhead framework of the existing building. The intervention took into consideration specific programmatic requirements, including those imposed on students, each of which is asked to develop a personal business identity while becoming an integral part of a com¬plex economic network. Workstations are simple white cubes. Differentiation has been achieved through the use of black-painted plywood for interior furnishings, such as drawer units, which are anchored into the space to provide stability and a new layer of scale. The linearity of the design, along with its distinctively created zoning scheme, takes full advantage of the elongated space.”
